Dear family of Jim Ward,
I am sorry to hear about the passing of Jim. I began my career in the metals business at Crucible Steel, Syracuse division, on November 1st, 1977. I was hired as 26 year old outside salesman responsible for the eastern NY region. Jim Ward was one of the best teachers I had educating me on how to do my job. He was always prepared to meet with customers. He had a wonderful personality to be a sales person for Crucible. He was well respected by his customers and his colleagues at Crucible. When I was 26 years old and didn't know anything about specialty metal Jim was the "grey hair" then (40 years old) I would go to to ask those questions about business that were not in the manual. He never disappointed me with his eagerness to help me and at the same time educating me with his knowledge. He shared it freely and helped me more than I knew at the time. Bill Owens who worked with us at Crucible at that time forwarded an e-mail sent to him by Dave Munger who worked with us at that time and lived in Fulton. I believe he still does. Anyways I am glad that I heard about Jim's passing. he was definitely one of the bricks in my wall of growth and maturity in my specialty steel career. I will celebrate his life in prayer today and ask God to welcome home a real life good person. Take care and my deepest sympathies to all of Jim's family!
