Obituary of Joseph V. Miano

Joseph V. Miano, 94, of Hannibal, passed away on Friday, September 4, 2020. Born in Oswego, a son to the late Joseph and Myrtle (Greene) Miano, he was a lifelong resident of Hannibal. Joe was a sergeant in the US Army serving during World War II. After the military, he was a sheriff for the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office and then the Highway Superintendent for Hannibal Highway Department for 4 years. Joe was also a member of the Hannibal American Legion, an avid golfer and a member of the Honor Flight in Syracuse. He was predeceased by his wife, Lillian in May of 2011; three sisters and two brothers. Surviving are several nieces, and nephews. The family regrettably had to make the tough decision not to hold calling hours or a funeral service for their loved one at this time due to the COVID-19 virus. A private graveside service with military honors will be held in Hannibal Village Cemetery. For those wishing, donations may be made to the Salvation Army or the Golisano Children’s Hospital, in Joe’s Memory. Foster Funeral Home, Hannibal has care of arrangements.
