Obituary of William J. Whitens July 14, 2015 William (Bill) John Whitens, 87, of Fulton passed to his rest on July 14 at Crouse Hospital after suffering a stroke the day before. Bill was born in Hermansville, Michigan where four brothers and other family still reside. He is survived by his wife, Nancy (Conibear) who would have celebrated 60 years of marriage on August 21 of this year. Also, five children, Lori (Gregory) Caracciolo of Chandler, Arizona, Brenda (Robin) Caster of Fulton, Judy Dygert of Fairport, Tim (Nancy) Whitens of Fulton, and Dan of Fulton. He enjoyed immensely his fourteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was a Korean War Veteran who served in Germany from 1950-1952. Bill was a building contractor in the Fulton area for 50+ years which included building homes, remodeling and making furniture. He had a wonderful tenor voice and sang in the Fulton men’s chorus in the early 1960’s and the Hamer Sing-a-long more recently. He attended Fulton First United Methodist Church for the past four years and before that attended Dexterville SDA Church. Some of his hobbies included fishing, camping in the Adirondacks every summer and cutting wood. He and his son Tim have owned Willow Creek Farm Alpacas for fourteen years. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 18 at 3:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 1408 State Route 176, Fulton.
