William “Bill” C. McBride, 85, of West Monroe, passed away on May 3, 2024 at St. Joseph's Hospital with his granddaughter Liz by his side. Bill was an intelligent, kind and generous man, who proudly served in the United States Marine Corps for four years.
A tireless worker throughout his life, Bill often worked three or four jobs at one time. He started in the electrical business working for Fluorescent Light of Syracuse. He later became a managing partner of City Electric of Syracuse, from which he retired in 2014.
William enjoyed going to the casino and traveling all over the world with his friends, the “Island Hoppers”. He was loved and adored by many, and built lifelong friendships.
He was an outdoor enthusiast, enjoying fishing, hunting, and boating throughout his lifetime. William was especially proud of his gardens, which he always kept immaculate.
William was predeceased by his parents, Paul and Olga McBride; siblings, J. Patrick, Michael, Terry, A. Jean, Peg, Ted; son, William “Billy” and a granddaughter, Jennifer.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his daughters, Janet and Penney; grandchildren, Elizabeth, and Carley; great-grandchildren, Aidyn, Liam, and Kian; siblings, Patricia, Rosemary, Sharon, Thomas, Daniel and James, along with several nieces and nephews.
Bill’s family would like to thank Vic Romano for his unending friendship and love, along with his wonderful neighbors, Harold and Linda. We would also like to thank all the medical professionals, both in and outside of the hospital, who were a part of Dad’s care team.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00am, Wednesday, May 22 in St Patrick's Church, 216 N Lowell Ave, Syracuse, NY 13204. Inurnment with military honors will follow at 12:15pm in St. Mary’s Cemetery, 4100 East Genesee Street, Dewitt, NY 13214. A celebration of life will be held on June 23 at the American Legion, 8529 Smokey Hollow Road, Baldwinsville, NY 13027 from 1pm – 5pm.
