Obituary of William J. Halstead May 23, 2016 Bill Halstead, entered into the embrace of his ancestors on May 23, 2016, an ever vigilant protector and provider. He was also a wealth of sage advice, a source of endless love, an example of all that is good and honorable in a man’s heart, a creator of hope, courage and laughter and the best husband, father, grandfather, friend and son one could wish for. His physical body is spent, yet his eternal spirit can still be heard whispering in the breeze, felt in the cleansing of a spring rain or winter snowfall, smelled in the farmer’s field of fresh turned earth, tasted in the little everyday joys that make us all smile and seen in the everlasting natural beauty of the world that surrounds us. We honor him by not only with tears of grief but also with tears brought forth by those great big, long, deep belly laughs he loved to give us, the ones that made us gasp, ache and chuckle breathlessly time and time again. He will be sorely missed. He was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Dawne Ostrander; parents, Ora and Florence Langworthy Halstead and nine brothers and sisters. He will be greatly missed and forever loved by his wife of 61 years, Betty Lloyd Halstead; one son, Jay (Nancy); six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. All services will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Hospice of the Finger Lakes, 1130 Corporate Drive, Auburn, NY 13021, in Bill’s memory. We cannot thank them enough for their support, compassion, guidance and love.
