Obituary of William Hines, Sr. William Hines, Sr., 85, of Granby passed away on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at home. He was born in Volney, a son to the late Henry and Helen Hines and lived all his life in the Fulton area. Bill enlisted into the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and was stationed aboard the destroyers U.S.S. Olsen and the U.S.S. Basilone. He was a life member of the Fulton V.F.W. Post 569 and had served as their Judge Advocate. Bill was a self-employed locksmith and retired from the Army Reserves in Mattydale where he was employed as a cook for 17 years. He also worked at Jefferson Smurfitt for 30 years, retiring in 1995. Bill was a member of the State Street United Methodist Church and Seventh Day of Adventist in Fulton. He was predeceased by his four brothers, Sylvester, Henry, Robert and Joe Hines and sister, Helen Hines. He is survived by his four children, William Hines, Jr. of Florida, Robert C. Hines of Fulton, Joseph Hines of Granby and Sherry L. Hines of Vermillion; sister, Maryann Meyers of Fulton as well as several grandchildren. Calling hours will be from 10 to 12 p.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2020 at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay Street, Fulton. Burial will be in Mt. Adnah Cemetery, Fulton at a later date.
