Thomas G. Richards

Thomas G. Richards, age 62, of Fulton, NY died February 20, 2024, at his home with family by his side.

Tom was born on October 24, 1961 in Fulton, NY, son of Karl R. Richards and Jacqueline (Chronister) Richards. He attended Fulton schools graduating in 1979, then attended State University of New York College at Oswego graduating in 1983.

Tom is survived by his wife of 39 years, JoAnn, and three sons; Jonathan (Summer), Austin (Rachel), Daniel; and nine grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother, Jacqueline Richards; brothers Brian (Colleen) and Christopher (Lisa) and a sister, Patricia (Alan) Eggleton, along with many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father, Karl Richards.

Tom worked for 9 years as a corrections officer in Oswego County before moving with his family to Austria where he and his family ministered with International Teams to refugees at The Oasis in Traiskirchen for 18 years. After returning to the USA, he continued his work with One Collective serving the resettled refugee community in Syracuse until the time of his last illness.

Tom loved people, seeing value and worth in every person. He enjoyed making friends with people from around the world. Tom's passion was sharing the love of Jesus Christ with others. He loved to laugh and found joy and beauty in nature and in everyday life. Tom was also passionate about collecting and restoring old and antique woodworking tools. A beloved husband, father and grandfather, Tom will be deeply missed by family and friends.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 29, 2024, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay St., Fulton, NY.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 1, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Oswego Alliance Church, 371 Thompson Rd., Oswego NY 13126.

Burial will be at the family's convenience at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a local ministry or charity of your choice, keeping in mind the refugee communities and others in need.
