Monica H. Dickinson

Monica H. Dickinson, age 100 of Baldwinsville, NY formerly of Syracuse, NY passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, May 7, 2024. She was born on July 31,1923 in Utica, NY to the late John Edward Blanch and Klara Sophia Jenny.  Monica was predeceased by her husband, Lyman A. Dickinson; siblings, Marie (Red) Kearny, Edward (Marilyn) Blanch, Jack Blanch and Sr. Joan Blanch, CSJ.

Monica is survived by her loving children, Fred Dickinson, Thomas (Dorothy) Dickinson, Richard (Bobbi) Dickinson, Theodore (Annette) Dickinson; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

Monica was a 1944 graduate of St. Elizabeth School of Nursing where she earned her bachelors. She went on to work at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital of Utica, St. Joseph’s Hospital of Syracuse, Loretto Rest Syracuse and she also did some private duty nursing. She got married to the love of her life, Lyman in 1948 with whom she celebrated 60 years of happy marriage. She was a member of the Alter Rosary Society and she volunteered at the rectory at Our Lady of Lourdes for many years. She was also a member of the Women’s Card Club.

Monica was lovingly cared for by Tom and Dottie for over 10 years through her battle with dementia. She will be remembered as a kind, compassionate, and generous person who made a difference in the lives of so many.

A calling hour will be held on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, from 10:30am to 11:30am with a Mass of Christian Burial to immediately follow all at St. Augustine's Church, 7499 O’Brien Rd, Baldwinsville, NY 13027. A burial will follow in Veterans Memorial Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her beloved husband, Lyman A. Dickinson. To leave a special message for the family, please sign the guestbook.
