M. Pete J. Hammond

Maurice “Pete” J. Hammond, age 92 of Fulton, NY passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2024. Pete was predeceased by his beloved wife, Evelyn Hammond; parents, Harvey and Mary Hammond; son, Peter Hammond; brothers, Harvey, Vincent, Paul, Gerald and William; sisters, Lillian, Rose and Beverly; and a granddaughter, Abby Buenzow.

Pete is survived by his loving children, Rebecca Taylor, Sue West and Randy Buenzow; six grandchildren, Tracy, Elizabeth, Amanda, Harry, Linda, and Theron; 18 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Pete was a proud US Army veteran serving in the Korean War. He enjoyed fishing, and the outdoors.  He loved his neighborhood and his neighbors. Pete never met a stranger as he had an uncanny ability to make friends in any situation, and an open and accepting spirit that attracted people towards him. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and uncle who will be missed by all who loved him. The family would like to extend special thanks to Pete’s caregivers and friends, Dawn Marie Maynes and Bob for their kindness and care.

In lieu of flowers donations in Pete’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2024, from 4pm to 6pm with a funeral service celebrating Pete’s life to follow at 6pm at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay Street, Fulton, NY. Pete will be laid to rest with his beloved wife, Evelyn on Friday, May 31, 2024, at 11am at Mt. Adnah Cemetery, Fulton, NY. To leave a special message for the family, please sign the guestbook.
