Mary Ellingwood, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2025, at Oswego Hospital following a brief illness. She was 74 years old. Mary was born on July 14, 1950, in Oswego, and was a lifelong resident of the area.
Throughout her life, Mary was known for her creativity and skill as an artisan. She found joy and fulfillment in various crafts, including sewing, crocheting, beading, and many others. Her hands created beauty, and her thoughtful nature touched the lives of those around her.
Mary was predeceased by her son, Michael G. Ellingwood. She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, David Ellingwood; her two daughters, Wendy Patrick (and Jay) and Jill Rice (and Will); and a legacy of cherished grandchildren: Sarah Murphy, Jordan Patrick (and Adriana), Tyler Rice, Paige Naish (and Cody), and MacKenzie Cappelletti (and Erick). She also leaves behind her adored great-grandchildren: Noah and Lilah Murphy, Oliver, Arthur, and Theodore Patrick, and Scarlet Naish and many nieces and nephews.
Mary's passing leaves a hole in the hearts of all who knew her, but her spirit and creativity will live on through the family and friends she so deeply loved. Services will be private, at the comfort of the family.
Her memory will forever be treasured.
