Marie Josephine Benedict

Marie Josephine Benedict, age 87, of Fulton, NY, went to meet Jesus on April 11, 2025.

She is survived by the love of her life, Carl R. Benedict, her daughters Lynn (Eric) Barker, Tammy (Michael) Green, and Christy (Mike) Wise; her grandchildren Lewis (Adrianne) Ives, Scott (Rachel) Ives; her sister Barbara (Tom) Fratello and her brother Fred (Kathy) Greco and several great grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her Mother and Father, Grace and Joseph Greco and her sister Nancy Laterra.

Marie, (Mom), was born in 1937 to Grace and Joseph Greco. She was a graduate of Fulton High school and shortly after began employment at Sealright Corporation in Fulton, NY where she was the Personal Secretary for Mr. Gray.  Up until recent weeks, she still talked about that job and how much she loved every minute of it.

In 1962 Dad spotted her, literally, from across the room at a local establishment. He chased her around town to Three Rivers Inn where he captured her heart, never let her go, and married her on November 3rd, 1962. They immediately began a family and after 3 daughters our family was complete.  Once we were old enough, Mom went on to work various jobs including her second favorite, the Customer Service Supervisor at Price Chopper in Liverpool, NY.  She made many friends and retired from that job in her late 60’s.

During their 63 years of marriage, she and Dad traveled the world, took lengthy motorcycle trips to various destinations, and never forgot to include the whole family in yearly vacations. She also loved to travel the country with her friends on the “Casino Circuit”.  Mom would do anything for anyone and never complained, although it was very well understood that she despised going to hunting camp.  But more importantly, Mom devoted her life to Jesus and her family.

Mama will be missed more than any words could ever express, but knowing she is pain free, no longer suffering and experiencing the most glorious eternal life with Jesus, brings peace to our hearts and minds.

You finally got your wings Mama, although you have had those your whole life – Fly High and watch over us closely.

Visitation to be held from 11:00 am – 12:30 pm on Saturday, April 26th  at RFH’S Hideaway, 1058 County Route 57, Phoenix, NY 13135 with a Celebration of Life to immediately follow at 1:00 pm. Foster Funeral Home has care of arrangements.
