Linda Joy Griffin

Linda Joy Griffin, 79, born August 21st, 1944, of Hannibal, NY, passed away on July 1st, 2024, at home surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Oswego, NY to the late Maynard and Nancy (Morse) Gardner, Linda spent her 79 years loving and living life to the fullest.

Linda graduated from Hannibal High School where she met the love of her life, her husband Daniel. She continued on to earn her bachelor’s degree in English from Keuka College, then taught 11th grade English at Jordan Elbridge High School.

From there, she and Dan started a family and helped build and operate the family owned golf course Griffins’ Greens with her husband Dan, brother and sister in law, Dick and Sandy Griffin.

Linda enjoyed many of life’s simple pleasures…a good book, a broadway musical, tending to her sheep, nights at the piano bar with Dan, a glass of wine, delivery pizza, a sun kissed Jamaican tan, and at the top of the list, spending time with her family.

Linda is predeceased by her brother Jeff. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Daniel Griffin, her sons Steven (Renée) Griffin and Brian (Tammy) Griffin, brother Philip (Wei) Gardner, sister in law Vivian Gardner, seven grandchildren, Katie (Than) Gregg, Beau (Lexus) Griffin, Margaret, Emma, Connor, Gavin, and Alison Griffin, seven great grandchildren Greyson, Griffin, Teddy, Jack, Henry, Ruby and Molly, goddaughter Daviah Walker, brothers and sisters in law Jerry and Rosie, Dick and Sandy, Dave and Kathy, and Gary and Janet, along with several cousins, nieces and nephews.

A truly selfless and generous woman, Linda made the pledge to be an anatomical gift for the SUNY Upstate Medical University and has requested that in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to her favorite charity, Doctors Without Borders or Hospice of CNY. A Celebration of Life will be held on July 20th from 1-4 pm at the Oswego Elks Lodge, 132 W. 5th Street, Oswego. Foster Funeral Home has care of arrangements.
