Obituary of Judith Gordon Hunter April 5, 2016 Judith Gordon Hunter, 81, passed away on April 5, 2016 following several years of deteriorating health. Born in Melrose, MA to Rev. Charles and Esther (Gordon) Engvall, she resided most of her adult life in Pittsford and Rochester, NY. She attended high school at Northfield Mount Herman School, received a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Tufts University, and a Masters in Health Education from Brockport State University. As a dedicated educator, Judy worked many years at the Rochester Children’s Nursery, Perinton Nursery School, as a Home Instructor for the Rochester City School District and was active in the Rochester Association for the Education of Young Children. She had been an active congregant of the First Unitarian Church serving as a church school teacher and later attended the First Universalist Church. She is survived by her children, William of Rochester, NY, Robert (Lynne) of Lake Placid, NY, Leslie of Rochester, NY and Thomas (Rebecca) of Los Angeles, CA; their father, Robert (Barbara) of Chili, NY; grandchildren, Abigail (Haider), Andrea, Leah, Chiara, Eleonora and Samuel; siblings, Donald (Margaret) Engvall of Baltimore, MD and David (Sally) Engvall of Williamstown, MA as well as many nieces and nephews. Judy was predeceased by her brothers, Jon Engvall and Andrew Gordon and sisters, Carol Davies and Josephine Harmon. Judy will be remembered as a loving and caring mother and grandmother and for being so kind and considerate of everyone. A celebration of Judy’s life will be scheduled in May at Highland Park in Rochester.
