John H. Howe

John H. Howe, 82, of Fulton and Red Creek, passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at Seneca Manor after a long illness. John was born in Syracuse in March of 1942 to his parents, Elliott and Mary B. Howe. He graduated from Fulton High School and continued to the University of Rochester. John later graduated with a degree in Physics. He then attended Washington University in St. Louis where he received his accounting degree. John then moved and completed his final degree in meteorology in Louisiana. He was in the Air Force by this time and did weather briefings for them.

Once John left the Air Force, he moved to California to do accounting for his cousin’s business. His final career was working for Prudential Inc. in the real estate department. John had a passion for harmonizing. He began singing in church choirs and school choruses. In college he sang in many glee clubs and continued singing in the Air Force, traveling to entertain the troops in other countries. In 1981 John joined the Peninsula Barbershop Chorus in California. He sang in many groups until he retired. Once retired, John returned to Fulton to care for his aging mother and later became the caregiver of his sister. During this time, he joined the Snowbelters Barbershop Chorus and performed as part of the Classic Touch quartet. He also served as treasurer until his retirement in late 2024.

John was predeceased by his parents, his stepfather William G. Woodruff, and his sister Nancy J. Howe.

Surviving are his brother Allan (Nancy B.) Howe, sister Patty (Rick) Brayton Malia, and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm on Sunday, February 2 at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay Street, Fulton, NY 13069.
