Jeanette Lillian Getman

Jeanette “Jann” Lillian Getman, age 92 of Hannibal, NY passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, following a brief illness. Jann was born in Scriba, daughter to the late Viola Stacy and Henry Lallier. She graduated from Fulton High School and was employed by the Cap Transportation Dept. of Sealright for many years. She was a member of the Granby Seniors and was an active member of the Hannibal Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, Jann was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Leland O. Getman; sister, Jean Stoughtenger, brother, Jay Lollier, brother, Victor Malambri and sister, Geraldine Malambri.

Jann is survived by her loving children, Russell (Carol) Getman of Hannibal, Paul (Donna) Getman of Valley Falls, Bruce (Terri) Getman of Chaska, MN, Gary Getman of Wilmington, NC, and Mark (Melissa) Getman of Hannibal; brother, Rosario Malambri of Jacksonville, NC; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Jann was a homemaker of a 20-cow dairy farm for the first 10 years of her married life. She later planned, with her husband, to retire to Florida where her children would all visit. She loved cats and enjoyed teaching her children different tricks and tips with both cats and dogs. Jann served as a Cub Scout Den Mother for 25 years. She was involved in a 4-H Club for at least 10 years winning blue and red ribbons on her homegrown produce.

She was also known for her love of music. A trained vocalist, her natural singing voice was admired and enjoyed by all that knew her. It was easy listening when she sang, whether it be in a choir or at the piano and Leland accompanied her with his fiddle and guitar tunes at home with guests. Her influence extended to all five children as each one learned at least one instrument, and all played in the school band.

Jann was a dedicated and loving wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend who will be dearly missed by all who loved and knew her.  May her memory be eternal.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, from 2pm to 4pm with a funeral service to follow at 4pm at Foster Funeral Home, 837 Cayuga Street, Hannibal, NY 13074. Burial will be in the spring at Hannibal Village Cemetery where Jann will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Leland. To leave a special message for the family, please sign the guestbook.
