James E. Ingersoll

June 20, 1933 — December 29, 2023

James E. Ingersoll, Sr., 90, of Fulton, NY passed away on December 29, 2023. A native of Fulton, he had also resided many years in Ocala, FL, before returning to Fulton in recent years.

Jim retired from Emergency One in Ocala, FL, and had previously worked at Electro-Flyte and Michaud Nursing Home in Fulton, as well as General Electric in Liverpool.

He was a member of the First Congregational Church in Fulton and Cicero. Jim was well known throughout Fulton and was an Alderman of the Sixth Ward in the 1970's; where he was instrumental in revitalizing the Van Buren Park, making it a safe and enjoyable place for the area children to play.

Jim served in the U.S. Navy from 1951-1955 aboard the USS Rochester heavy cruiser. He was a    life member of the VFW Post 4493 in Candler, FL; member of the Vets Helping Vets; volunteer   and member of the Board of Directors at Gainesville Veterans Hospital in Gainesville, FL.

Jim had a love of gardening, reading, and writing his short stories about his early life growing up in Fulton.

Jim was predeceased by his wife, Charlene Fletcher Ingersoll in 1979; his parents, Thomas Sr. And Ruby Doty Ingersoll, and brothers, Panthus, Kenneth, and Thomas Jr.

Surviving are his children, James Jr. (Susan Manno) of Fulton, NY, Terri (Stephen) Wallon of Leland, NC, and Renee Younes (Luke Shattuck) of Preston Hollow, NY; two grandchildren, Amanda Murray and Jacob Liddle; five great-grandchildren; his brothers, Charles Ingersoll of Bonita Springs, FL and Robert Ingersoll of Lufkin, TX, as well as several nieces and nephews.

As per Jim's wishes, there will be no services. Burial at Mt. Adnah Cemetery will be private. Foster Funeral Home, Fulton, has care of the arrangements.

Donations in Jim's memory can be made to Mt. Adnah Cemetery, 706 East Broadway, Fulton, NY 13069.

The family wishes to express their thanks and gratitude to all of the staff at the VA Medical Center in Syracuse, NY for the excellent care Jim received.
