Gary L. “Mouse” Firenze, Sr., 74 of Fulton peacefully passed away July 25, 2024, with his family at his side. Gary graduated from G. Ray Bodley, class of 1968. He then enlisted with the U.S Army in November of 1968. Following basic training, he went to Vietnam serving from May of 1969, until April of 1970. During his service he earned several medals including the National Service Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, Air Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device. Gary achieved the rank of Spec 4 and was a very proud man who finished his military service without seeking any glory.
Following his military service, Gary worked for City of Fulton DPW from 1972 until his retirement in 2008.
Gary was an avid and “die hard” fan of the NY Yankees, Syracuse Orange and NY Jets.
He was also a proud member of the Fulton VFW Post 569.
His greatest joy and achievement was his dedication to his family, where he devoted as much time as possible to spending quality time with them.
He was predeceased by a sister, Charlene Whittemore; niece, Allison Perry, and his parents, Ralph and Ruth Firenze.
He is survived by his loving companion of 31 years, Joan Thurlow; sister, Dawn Perry (Tony Raponi); three children, Gary Firenze, Jr. (Danielle Nash), Beth Renea Potocnak (Bob Potocnak), and Morgan Firenze (Scott Brooks); five grandchildren, Austin Firenze, Alex Firenze, Kylee Potocnak, Mason Firenze, and Natalie Brooks; two great-grandchildren, Julian Firenze and Maddox Firenze; uncle, Peter Firenze, along with several nieces and nephews
