Obituary of Eugenia Noel Pontante Eugenia “Jean” Noel Pontante, 86, of Fulton, passed away on Monday, November 9, 2020. Born in the Ukraine, Jean had lived in the Fulton area since 1947, during troubling times in the world. She had worked at Sealright, General Electric and Bayberry Hairstyling. Known as the “Galumpke Queen” by many, Jean was the pillar of her family. She may not have been rich in her pocket but was in heart and devotion to her family, friends, and faith. Jean spent the last five years at St. Francis Commons, Oswego, where she made it her home and embraced the staff as her extended family. She will always be remembered as a “tough cookie” that despite having endured so much fought with grace and a smile. Jean was a true angel and an inspiration to all that knew her and will be greatly missed. She was a communicant of St. Michael’s Church and Holy Trinity Catholic Church, both in Fulton. Jean was predeceased by her parents, Mychiajlo Jacyszysn and Maria Derkacz; husbands, Harrison Noel, Sr. and Louis P. Pontante; children, Harrison Noel, Jr. and Debbie McDougall. She is survived by her daughter, Susan (Heath) Laxton; five grandsons, Harry (Amy), Ryan (Denise), Harrison III (Monica), Jacob (Wendy) and Joshua; five great-grandchildren, Steven (Kate), Noelle, Logan, Zackery and Sullivan; several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Monday, November 16 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, corners of Rochester and S. Third Streets, Fulton. Calling hours will be from 1-4 pm on Sunday, November 15 at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay Street, Fulton. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family, 1407 W Genesee Rd. Baldwinsville, NY 13027, for the purchase of a memorial bench to be placed in Breitbeck Park.
