Obituary of Emma R. Walsh November 12, 2014 Emma Rowley Walsh, 90, of Fulton, passed away Wednesday, November 12 at The Manor at Seneca Hill, Oswego, NY. Born on December 20, 1923 she was a life resident of Fulton, the daughter of the late Carl A. and Mary (Keller) Rowley. She was a 1941 graduate of Fulton High School. She was employed in the office at Sealright Container Corporation for eight years and then held the office of Fulton City Court Clerk for 23 years before her retirement in 1983. Mrs. Walsh was actively involved in and enjoyed several community and church activities including being a member of the A.L. Lee Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and a volunteer at their Snack Bar for 20 years. Emma was involved with Women of the Rotary, Catholic Daughters of America, the Fulton Women’s Chorus as well as a member for 35 years of the Women’s Bowling League on Harris Store’s Lucky Seven team and 21 years of volunteering at area nursing homes with the Hamer Sing-A-Long Group. Emma was also a member of the Immaculate Conception Choir and she had received the Volunteer of the Year Award at Michaud Nursing Home. Emma was a joint recipient with her husband Jack of the Fulton Community Service Award. She also enjoyed several hobbies including cooking, gardening, reading, collecting ceramic angel statues and milk glass (Fentonware). A communicant of Immaculate Conception Church, she was well known and loved by all who knew her. A devout Catholic and the heart and conscience of the Walsh family; she was a devoted wife, mother, nana, great-nana, aunt and homemaker throughout her married life. In addition to her parents, Emma was predeceased by her beloved husband, John F. “Jack” Walsh, Sr. of 62 years, who passed in 2012 and her brother, Homer Rowley. Surviving are her two sons, John F. Walsh, Jr. of Oswego and Harold (Sandra) Walsh of Fulton; grandchildren, Tiffany (Mathew) Shurtleff, Siobhan and Brandon Walsh; great-grandchildren, Damien Piper, Mitchell, Kayden Shurtleff and Grace Kitts as well as several nieces and nephews. Calling hours are 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, November 21 at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay Street, Fulton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 22 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, corner of Rochester and South Third Streets in Fulton with burial to follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Fulton.
