Obituary of Donald J. Smith September 13, 2015 Donald J. Smith, 79, of Fulton passed away Sunday, September 13 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Fulton to the late John Smith and Josephine Zmikley, Don had resided in the Fulton area his entire life. He served in the Air Force from 1954 to 1958. Don enjoyed sports, serving as an umpire and a coach for men’s basketball and softball. He was past president of the Fulton Softball Association for 20 years, the Fulton City Men’s Basketball League for 35 years, Mat-Pac wrestling in Fulton for 20 years, and helped with Fulton Pop-Warner and Fulton Youth hockey. In addition to his activities with sports, Don loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother, Joseph Smith. Don is survived by his wife of 48 years, Judith; children, Sherry (Kurt) Roulston, Donald (Darle) Smith and Rick (Lauri) Smith; grandchildren, Jill, Felicia, Kelsi, Michael, Sierra and Corey; great-grandchildren, Dylan and Caitlyn; brothers, Stanley (Judy) Smith and John (Carolyn) Smith; mother-in-law, Eleanor Terpening; sister-in-law, Ann Smith; several nieces and nephews and many close friends. A funeral service will be 11:30 am Thursday, September 17 at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay Street, Fulton. Calling hours are 3 pm to 7 pm Wednesday, September 16 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Ira Union (White) Cemetery, White Cemetery Road in Ira.
