Obituary of Donald Ulric Bessette June 15, 2015 Donald U. Bessette, 84, of Baldwinsville passed away Monday in Syracuse surrounded by his loving family. Born July 11, 1930 in Chicopee, MA to the late Raoul and Marguerite Tessier Bessette, he had resided in the Syracuse area for the last 55 years. He was a Korean War veteran serving in the U.S. Navy from 1948-1952 in the U.S. Submarine Service aboard the USS Sea Owl. Don graduated from the University of Massachusetts Summa Cum Laude, with a BS Electrical Engineering in 1957 and Syracuse University G.E. Honors Program with a MS Electrical Engineering in 1959. He was an elected member of Tau Beta Pi, Honor Society Phi Kappa Phi and the Society of the Sigma Xi. Don was also the Vice President of the NYS Chapter of the American Rocket Society. Donald worked for G.E. in Syracuse from 1957-1991 and was a member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. In his free time he enjoyed riding motorcycles and training dogs. In addition to his parents, Donald was predeceased by his sisters Clair and Elaine. Donald is survived by his wife of 64 years, Barbara; children, Michael, Patricia, Donna, Donald II, Linda and Steven; grandchildren, Michaelene, Joseph, Derek, Carly, Jonathan, Samantha and Jamie; great-grandchildren, Kevin, Dante and James; and sister Eileen. Calling hours are 3 to 6 P.M. Friday, June 19 with a service to follow at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay Street, Fulton.
