Obituary of Col. Lois Cook White August 27, 2016 Lt. Col. Lois Cook White, 85, of Oswego, passed away on Saturday, August 27. Born in Oswego, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Gertrude (Lathrop) Cook. Lois graduated from Hannibal High School in 1949 and with her twin sister, Lucy, entered nursing school at General Hospital of Syracuse graduating in 1952. In 1953, she and her twin sister joined the United States Air Force Nurse Corps. While stationed at Bolling AFB in Washington, D.C., she met and married her husband Don in November 1955. Her other assignments were in Madrid, Spain; Great Falls, Montana; Merced, California and Goose Bay, Labrador, Canada. Lois retired as a Lt. Col. from the Air Force in 1973 after 20 years of service. She was a former member of the Retired Air Force Nurses Association and the Fayetteville Chapter of the D.A.R. Surviving are her husband of 61 years, SMSGT Donald L. White of Oswego; a brother, Courtney C. (Mary) Cook of Hannibal; twin sister, Lucy C. Fuss of Hannibal; sister, Mary E. Hudson of Greenburg, PA and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at the convenience of the family with burial at Hannibal Village Cemetery in Hannibal. There will be no calling hours.
