Carmen Heppell Baron, of Fulton, passed away peacefully on Palm Sunday, April 2, 2023, at Morningstar Residential Care Center, Oswego, NY. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Carmen was a generous, compassionate, and strong willed woman. She was born in Derby, VT on December 22, 1924, to the late John and Yvonne Heppell. Carmen grew up in Fulton with her twelve siblings. She attended St. Mary’s School and graduated from Fulton High School in 1941.
Carmen married Edwin M. Baron on May 22, 1954, in Immaculate Conception Church. Their love lasted through sickness and health for 62 years. Her most treasured times were spent with her husband and family; her granddaughter Jillian and family brought her great pleasure.
Carmen worked in the purchasing department at Nestle Company in Fulton for over 25 years. As a lifelong communicant of Holy Trinity Parish, she contributed her time and talent to BINGO and the annual church bazaar. She worked in the church’s Golden SONflower Gift Shop. She was an active member of the Catholic Daughters for 80 years.
Carmen was an avid sports fan. She followed baseball, basketball and football - always loyal to her NY Yankees and Syracuse Orange. She enjoyed the thrill of winning lottery tickets and slot machines. Carmen loved social gatherings, holiday celebrations, and sharing good times with friends. She enjoyed shopping, traveling, summer outdoor concerts, and baking pies. Carmen always had a plan, was always on the go, and brought joy everywhere she went.
Carmen was predeceased by her husband Edwin; her son-in-law Pasquale Caramanna; her parents; brothers Ivan (Mildred), Lucien (Rita), Maurice, Adolphe (Shirley), Robert (Norma), and Georges (Eleanor); sisters Gilberte Coyne, Raymonde (Arthur) Ascenzi, Germaine Jerose (Fred)Whitehead, Cecile Christopher, Frances (Fred) Foley, and Mae (Edwin) Okoniewski.
Carmen is survived by her son, Edward Baron of Oswego, NY; daughter, Lorraine Caramanna of Adams, NY; granddaughter, Jillian Rose (Kevin) Seymour of Delmar, NY; great grandson Brooks Pasquale Seymour; and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 2 - 4 PM on Monday, April 10 at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay Street, Fulton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 11, at Holy Trinity Church, 309 Buffalo Street, Fulton, with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Fulton, to follow.
