Carl E. Whitcomb

Carl E. Whitcomb, age 89 of Oswego, NY passed away on Wednesday, November 15, 2023.

Carl attended Clarkson University majoring in Electrical Engineering. He was a proud US Army veteran serving in the Korean War. After the military he worked with Lipe Rollway Bearing as an Electrician for 22 years before retiring. He was a nature lover and loved his farmhouse. He made many trails on his property that he would walk regularly. He was handy and could fix anything. He was known for his many quips, rhymes and riddles. Above all he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather who will be dearly missed by all who loved and knew him.

Carl is survived by his loving children, James (Lisa) Whitcomb, Elizabeth Lippert, Susan (Gerry) Pritchard, John (Stacey) Whitcomb, Mary (David) Kalabanka; grandchildren, Nicholas, Rebecca, Samantha, Michelle, Julia, Joseph, Nicole, Alex, Jacob, Ryan, Colin, and Jack; several great-grandchildren and sister-in-law, Lettie Whitcomb.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 56 years, Janice Whitcomb; parents, Guy and Dorothy Whitcomb; and his brother, Joseph Whitcomb.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Carl’s name may be made to American Cancer Society or plant a tree in his memory.

A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family at Foster Funeral Home, 837 Cayuga Street, Hannibal. Carl will be laid to rest in the spring next to his beloved wife, Janice, at Martville Cemetery, Martville, NY. To leave a special message for the family, please sign the guestbook.
