Beverly Ann Pelo, 96 years old, passed away peacefully after a brief illness Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2024 at Francis House in Syracuse, NY.
She was born March 30, 1928 and was a lifelong resident of Fulton, NY, and recently at the Nottingham in Jamesville, NY.
She was predeceased by her husband, John Pelo, of 35 years and her second husband, John DeSantis, of 25 years.
Bev, as she was known to family and friends, was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Fulton, where she volunteered her time and energy serving on several boards, church programs and activities.
She worked at Fay’s Drugs Co. in Fulton, NY for over 25 years where she was known and loved by many customers she served.
Her friendships, cultivated throughout her life, many of which began in grade school, were lifelong and cherished.
Known for her warm, welcoming spirit, Bev was a devoted wife and mother, who found her greatest joy in her family. She loved her children deeply and was a constant source of love and support. She was especially grateful for the many acts of kindness from family and friends and treasured visits, phone calls, notes and cards.
She possessed the all-too-rare talent of making everyone she met feel like they were the most important and special person in the world.
Survivors include her three children, John Pelo (Louise) of Phoenix, NY, Rodger Pelo (Cindy) of Ann Arbor, MI, and Lynne Shopiro (David) of Fayetteville, NY and four grandchildren, Adam and Jason Shopiro of Syracuse, NY, Sarah Katz (Adam) of Highland Park, IL, and Aaron Pelo of Ferndale, MI. One daughter, Patricia, preceded her in death.
Friends may call Thursday, September 19, 2024 from 11:30 am to 1:00 p.m. at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay St., Fulton, NY 13069. A graveside service and burial will immediately follow in Mt. Adnah Cemetery, 706 E Broadway, Fulton, NY 13069. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Francis House in Syracuse, NY or Crouse Health Foundation.
