Barry L. Borrow

Barry L. Borrow, age 77, and a native and long-time resident of Granby, New York died peacefully on January 2nd, 2025, following complications from a stroke.

Barry was born on June 24,1947 in Binghamton, NY, but lived most of his childhood in Granby. Barry joined the Army during the Vietnam War and was stationed at West Point as a Sergeant in the Military Police. He served his country proudly. Following his time in the service, Barry obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Forest Land Management from SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry at Syracuse University. He retired from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation after working there for many years as an Environmental Analyst. He was a member of the Bowens Corner United Methodist Church.

Barry was an avid outdoorsman. He loved being in the forest hunting, fishing or riding ATVs. His hobbies included collecting firearms, gardening, genealogy and watching Syracuse sports with friends. He loved a good Texas hot from Rudy’s finished off with a vanilla and chocolate twist from Bev’s. He found value in life and would not hesitate to give away things he thought could be of use to others. He was generous and kind hearted and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his nephew John Godfrey and family (Maureen, Hannah and Keegan), his aunt Ona Morgan and family (Cherie and Valerie) and various cousins. Barry was preceded in death by his sister Karen Godfrey (Borrow), mother Eunice McMillan (Wooding) and stepfather Charles McMillen.

A graveside memorial will be held on May 2nd, 2025, at 2 PM at the Jacksonville Cemetery on 9250 Fenner Road, Lysander. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society. Foster Funeral Home has care of arrangements.
