Obituary of Hon. Wallace Auser

Hon. Wallace Van C. Auser, 94, of Fulton, passed away on Thursday, February 8 at Elderwood in Liverpool. A native of Brooklyn, he spent his youth in Mountain Lakes, NJ. Wally was a graduate of Cornell University in Ithaca, NY where he received his under-graduate and law degrees. He settled in Fulton, NY establishing a law practice in 1949. He served as Fulton City Attorney; Fulton City Court Judge from 1969-1983 and County Court Judge from 1983 until his retirement in 1993. During his retirement, he presided as a judicial hearing officer for several years. Wally was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II and the Korean War, attaining the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. He was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of Fulton and in recent years was a member of the Northside Baptist Church in Liverpool. Wally was a member of the Fulton Rotary Club and a Paul Harris Award recipient. He served as president of the Fulton Library Board of Directors and was involved with many community activities and various historical and genealogical societies. Wally enjoyed numerous hobbies which included genealogy, stamp collecting and railroad history.

          Wally was predeceased by his beloved wife, Elizabeth “Betty” Morin Auser; a son, James Auser and daughter, Elizabeth Auser.

          Surviving are his two sons, Wallace (Sharon) Auser of Fulton and Jeffrey (Linda) Auser of Liverpool; daughter-in-law, Donna Auser Hancock of Louisville, KY; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

          Calling hours are from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, February 18 at Foster Funeral Home, Inc., 910 Fay Street in Fulton, NY. A graveside service will be held at Mt.
