Evelyn J. Upson, 89, of Fulton passed away Saturday at Sunrise Nursing Home in Oswego. A native of Camden, Mrs. Upson had resided in Cazenovia, Oswego and Fulton before moving to Liverpool in 1972. She retired in 1983 from Deluxe Check Printers in Liverpool after 15 years. Moving back to Fulton, Mrs. Upson had worked as a cashier for Ingamalls Grocery in Fulton and Castrogiavoni’s Grocery in Oswego and as a waitress at Sava’s Restaurant and the Terrace Diner in Oswego. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles L. Upson, who died in 1995, a son, William H. Miller, a sister, Dolores Stanton and a brother, William Parker. Surviving: a daughter, Cindi L. Loughrey of Oswego; a step daughter, Deborah I. Hurteau of Baldwinsville; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Mount Adnah Cemetery, Fulton. Rev. Mark D. Kimpland will officiate. There will be no calling hours. Foster Funeral Home, Fulton has care of arrangements.

Norval D. Zufelt, 82, of Mexico, formerly of Fulton, died Thursday at home surrounded by his family. He was born in Volney and graduated from Fulton High School. After graduation, Norval served in the Merchant Marine Service during WW II with subsequent service in the U.S Army during the occupation of Japan. He was a New York State Trooper, serving at Troop D, Fulton for 35 years, retiring in 1983. Norval then went to work at Nine Mile Nuclear Power Plant for 10 years, retiring in 1994. He was very active in researching his families geneology, often traveling to gain more information on the Zufelt family. Norval and his companion, Patricia, enjoyed visiting flea markets and collecting Westmoreland glassware. He was predeceased by his sister, Mary Gleason; two brothers, Walter and Henry Zufelt. Norval is survived by his companion of 25 years, Patricia Gregory of Mexico; his wife, Evalyn Zufelt of Volney; several nieces and nephews. There are no calling hours. Funeral services are private. Burial will be in Mount Adnah Cemetery, Fulton. Foster Funeral Home, Fulton has care of arrangements.

Carolyn M. Bergman, 58, of Fulton, died Tuesday at University Hospital in Syracuse. She was a life resident of the Fulton-Scriba area. She had worked in rural delivery of the Palladium Times for six years. She was predeceased by her parents, Leverett and Mary Sheldon and a brother, Kenneth Sheldon. Surviving are her husband, of 36 years, Thomas Bergman of Fulton; two children, Thomas Bergman of Fulton and Sarah (Russell Price) Bergman of Fulton; siblings, Mary Ann DeLand of Oswego, Sylvia Maynes of Fulton, Victor (Joanne) Sheldon of Lycoming and Arlene (Ray) Polczak of Oswego; many nieces and nephews. Calling hours are 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday with a 1 p.m. service at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay Street, Fulton. Burial will be at Peck Cemetery, Scriba.

Joseph A. Dashnau, Jr., 57, of Fulton passed away on Sunday, July 25th surrounded by loved ones at his home following a brief illness. Born on July 31, 1952 in Fulton, he was a graduate of G. Ray Bodley High School, class of 1970. Joe was employed as a machinist for many years and had worked at Nestle Company in Fulton for 14 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Joe was predeceased by his father, Joseph A. Dashnau, Sr. and is survived by his wife of 29 years, Sue France Dashnau of Fulton; eight children, David Dashnau, Jason Dashnau, Joseph Dashnau III, Robert (Lori) Kelly and Brian (Kathy) Kelly all of Fulton and Michael France, Andrea Hartmann and Heather Weldin all of Oswego; his mother, Beverly Gifford Dashnau of Fulton; two brothers, Stephen Dashnau of Florida and Douglas Dashnau of Syracuse; 12 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; a niece and a nephew; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Memorial Services will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, August 14, 2010, at Church of the Nazerene, 914 Utica Street, Fulton. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dashnau family. Foster Funeral Home, Fulton has charge of arrangements.

Florence M. Treen Gibson, 80, formerly of Fulton, passed away Saturday at Oswego Hospital. Born in Fulton she was a life resident and had retired from Nestle Co., Fulton after 30 years. Flo enjoyed playing bingo. She was predeceased by her first husband, Francis Treen, her second husband, Charles Gibson and her daughter, Violet Bonnell. Flo is survived by her children, Anna (Dave) Smith, Bonnie (John) Posey and Roger (Denise) Treen; a sister, Rose Reynolds; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday with a 3 p.m. service to follow at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay Street, Fulton.

Dora M. Castor, 85, of Fulton, died Thursday. She was a resident of Redfield before moving to Fulton in 1994. Dora was an avid gardener and was employed by Campus Hill Nursery in Syracuse. She was predeceased by her husband, Waldo Castor. Dora is survived by three sisters, Gladys (Leonard) Daniels, Elsie Marriner and Florence Shoults all of Fulton; one brother, Robert (Carolyn) Shoults of Oswego; several nieces and nephews. Santina M. Ferlito, 95, of Oswego, died Tuesday in Cary, NC. A native of New York City, she had resided in the Oswego-Hannibal area most of her life. Mrs. Ferlito was a communicant of Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Hannibal and had attended St. Joseph’s Chapel in Southwest Oswego She was predeceased by her husband, James Ferlito, Sr.; a brother, Paul Belfiore and two sisters, Grace Zagame and Antoinette Pappalardo. Surviving are her sons, Michael (Joyce) Ferlito of Oswego, Ross (Malva) Ferlito of Hamilton and James Ferlito, Jr. of Cary, NC; a sister, Edna Mistretta of Fulton; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Services will be private with burial at Hannibal Village Cemetery. Pauline E. Zahler, 85, died Tuesday in Syracuse. Born in Hastings, she resided in the Volney-Fulton area. Mrs. Zahler retired from Nestle Company, Fulton after many years. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter Zahler, who died in 2005. Surviving are: a daughter, Terry Zahler (Andy Butchko) of Baldwinsville; a brother, Bruce Porter of Palermo; five grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
