Harold A. Zellar, 97, of Fulton, died October 29, 2009 at Oswego Hospital. Born in Fulton, he was a life resident. Harold had worked at the Rome Army Air Field as a civilian airplane mechanic. He retired from Sealright in Fulton after many years. Harold was a member of the Ancient Order of Oddfellows in Fulton. He enjoyed bowling. Harold was predeceased by his wife, Thola Zellar, who died in 1985 and by his daughter, Brenda Whelan, who died in 2004. Surviving are his son, Horace (Carol Wilcox) Zellar of Fulton; three grandsons; one granddaughter; many great-grandchildren. Services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Foster Funeral Home, Fulton with burial at Mt. Adnah Cemetery, Fulton. Calling hours are 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, 910 Fay Street, Fulton.

Barbara Parkhurst, 62, of Pennellville passed away Thursday at home surrounded by her family. Born in Watertown, she had lived in the Pennellville area for many years. Barb retired from SYROCO in Baldwinsville in 2005 after more than 25 years. She cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Dave; children, David, Jr., of Central Square, Melissa (Joe) Griffin of Phoenix and Kimberly (Jim) Marlowe of Constantia; her mother, Clarissa Withrow of Carthage; two sisters, Linda Lytle and Ann DiStefano; a brother, Robert Withrow; her mother-in-law, Pearl Evans of Phoenix; two grandchildren, Austin Marlowe and Veronica Griffin; several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Pennellville Cemetery, Co. Rte. 54, Pennellville. Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay St., Fulton.

Sophie Kuc Karkut, 89, of Florida, formerly of Fulton, passed away Tuesday. Born in Fulton to the late John and Katherine Drozda Kuc, she had lived in the Ukraine until age 16 and then moved back to Fulton. Mrs. Karkut had lived in Florida since 1992. She retired from Nestle Co., Fulton in 1979 after more than 30 years. Mrs. Karkut was a communicant of Holy Family Church, Fulton. She enjoyed golfing. She was predeceased by her husband, M. Joseph Karkut, who died in 1991. Surviving are her son, Joseph and his wife, Sandra of Fulton; a grandson, Thomas Karkut; a sister, Anna Zanewcyh; a brother, Jerry Kuc; three nieces. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:30 a.m. Monday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, corners of South Third and Buffalo Sts., Fulton. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fulton. Calling hours will be 12 to 2 p.m. Sunday at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay St., Fulton. William (Bill) Nipper, Sr., 77, of Merritt Road, Fulton passed away suddenly on October 24, 2009. He was a life resident of the Fulton-Granby area. Bill retired in 1979 after 31 years of employment with Acme Markets and was a member of the Meat Cutters Local #1 in Utica. Bill was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and being outdoors, He spent many hours gardening and farming. Bill was a loving family man who enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s ball games and many wresting matches. He was inducted into the Hannibal Wrestling Hall of Fame in 1997 and given the Hannibal Wresting Fan of the Year award in 1983 and 2009. He was also a member of the Central New York Two Cylinder and Mid Lakes Power of the Past Clubs. He attended many tractor pulls.
Surviving are his loving wife of 58 years, Mary (Gilbert) Nipper; three sons, Robert (Rhonda) Nipper of Fulton, David (Teresa) Nipper of Phoenix and Donald (Tammie) Nipper of Palermo; a sister, Frances (Richard) Morton of Scriba; two brothers-in-law, Kenneth Gilbert of Fulton and Louis Gilbert of Hannibal; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Foster Funeral Home, Hannibal with burial at Merritt Cemetery, Granby. Calling hours are 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, 837 Cayuga Street, Hannibal. Earl A. Sixberry, Sr., 79, of Palermo, passed away October 21, 2009. Born May 8, 1930 in Pierrepont Manor he had lived in Palermo most of his life. Earl was a stockcar driver on local dirt tracks. He owned and operated Sixberry’s Garage for 18 years in the town of Palermo. Earl’s hobbies were bowling and NASCAR racing. Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Beverly Albee Sixberry; daughters, Earlene (Rick) Boutell, Darlene (Ron) Rice and Valerie Clark; sons, Earl (Carol) Sixberry, Jr., Randy (Julie) Sixberry and Ronnie Sixberry; sisters, Ruth Shannon, Alice Race and Mildred Clark; brother, Vernon (Dolly) Sixberry; half sisters, Clara Pillians and Robin Hansen; 15 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Ann N. LeClair, 76, of Fulton, died Monday at Oswego Hospital after a sudden illness. She was a life resident of the Fulton-Oswego area. Ann retired as a clerk for the Oswego County Board of Elections after 20 years. She was a communicant of Holy Family Catholic Church in Fulton where she was a member of its choir for many years. Ann was a former chairperson of the Democratic Party for the city of Fulton; member of R.S.V.P.; Merry Widows Card Club; and she helped develop the Respect Program for the Fulton Consolidated School System. Ann was predeceased by a son, Robert E. Alnutt; brothers, George and Fred Weske and sister, Betty Phillips.
Surviving are her children, Carol Alnutt of Oswego, Michelle (Robert) Narad of Fulton, Norine LeClair of Syracuse, Danise (Roger) Dennison of Fulton, Daniel LeClair of Hannibal, Sherri Arnold of Hannibal, Patrick (Lisa) LeClair of Somers, Lynn (Scott) Moroz of Fulton and their father, Alton LeClair of Fulton; a sister, Alberta (James) Ambuske of Fulton; 15 grandchildren, Jason, Brianna, Lindsay, Christopher, Sabrina, Samantha, Elizabeth, Sarah, Ali, Patrick, Aidan, Lauren, Peter, Guilianna and Isabella; several nieces and nephews.

Irene E. Levi, 87, of Fulton, passed away, October 17 at St. Joseph’s Hospital after a short illness. She retired from Goldberg’s Furniture in Fulton after 35 years and was an active member in Elizabeth Chapter #105 Order of the Eastern Star. Irene loved to travel, cook and enjoyed the company of friends and family. She was predeceased by her husband, James Levi and a daughter, Jean L. Grandy of Jacksonville, FL. Irene is survived by her son, James (Kathleen) LeVea of Liverpool; her son-in-law David Grandy of Jacksonville, FL; four granddaughters, Pamela (John ) Howard and Melissa Grandy both of Jacksonville, FL, Robin (Philip) Squadrito and Nicole LeVea, both of Liverpool; four great-grandchildren. John F. Pomeroy, 75, of Hannibal passed away Friday at home surrounded by his family. Born in Fulton, he was a long time resident of the Fulton – Oswego areas. He retired as a painter from Painter’s Local #38, District Council #4, Oswego and previously was an Iron Union worker. John was an Army veteran serving during Korea from 1951 to 1954. He was a member of Oswego V.F.W. Post 2320 and Lake City Lodge #127, F. & A.M., Oswego. He enjoyed races at the Fulton and Oswego Speedways and at one time was an avid motorcycle enthusiast. John was predeceased by his wife, Nora J. Pomeroy, who died in 1995. Surviving: two daughters, Missy (William ) LeVea and Cheryl Grimes; sister, Donna Molnar; step-mother, Hilda Pomeroy; step-daughters, Sally Maxfield, Dawn Gibbs and Starr Chetney; step-sons, Charles DiBartolo, Curtis Himes, Gary Himes, Randy Woods and Sam Chetney; four grandchildren, John C.L. LeVea, Madison LeVea, Stephanie Morrison and Holly Manwaring; several step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a niece, Kimberly (Dan) Dubovik; several cousins. Ethel L. LeRoy, 93, of Oswego died Wednesday at Oswego Hospital. Born in Fulton she was a life resident of the Oswego area. Ethel was a homemaker and loved gardening, needlework and was an avid pet lover. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph A. LeRoy who died in 1981. Surviving are two daughters, Jean LeRoy of Fulton and Joan (Richard) Murphy of Webster; two sons, Robert (Joyce) LeRoy and John LeRoy both of Oswego; a sister, Tudy (Francis) Ford of Fulton; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
