Donald Burnside McGivney, 58, of Fulton, died Sunday at Pontiac Nursing Home in Oswego. He was a life resident of Fulton and graduated from G. Ray Bodley High School in 1972. Don worked at Morrill Press/Sonoco for 28 years before retiring due to health issues. He was an avid race car fan and enjoyed going to Oswego Speedway. Don was predeceased by his father, Donald Kreiger Moore who died in 1953; his adopted father, George V. McGivney, who died in 2003 and by a brother, Thomas K. McGivney who died in 1980. He is survived by his mother, Mary S. McGivney of Baldwinsville; a sister, Kelley M. McGivney of Long Island; two brothers, Kreiger F. (Anne) McGivney of Oswego and George M. McGivney of Syracuse; his wife, Gail M. Bennett McGivney of Fulton and a nephew, Bradley T. McGivney of Oswego. Brian H. Dodge, 58, of Fulton passed away unexpectedly Sunday at Oswego Hospital. Born in Utica, he was a 32 year resident of Fulton. After 32 years of teaching Health Education at G. Ray Bodley High School in Fulton, Brian retired in 2010. He also taught drivers education and coached boys cross country. An accomplished runner, Brian was a four-time cross-country and track and field All-American while attending Alleghany Community College and Plattsburg State University. He also placed in the top 100 at the Utica Boilermaker Road Race. Brian most recently ran with The Genesee Valley Harriers Premier Running Club and was a member of several USA Track and Field Veteran National Championship teams. Brian was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, and son. He is Survived by his wife of 34 years, Carol A. Dodge; daughter, Breann Dodge; faithful companion, Sammy. He is predeceased by his father, Howard Dodge. He is also survived by his mother, Stella Dodge of Utica; two sisters, Marcia (Dr. George) Schilling of New Hartford, Lisa Dodge of Utica; sisters-in-law, Sandra (Pete) Cataldo of Rome, Bernice Mrzlikar of Utica, Kathryn (Glenn) Palmer of Georgia; several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:30 a.m. Friday, February 3rd at Holy Trinity Church, 309 Buffalo Street, Fulton. Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 2nd at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay Street, Fulton. Hermann G. Berwald

Hermann G. Berwald, 72 of Fulton died Saturday at Oswego Hospital. A native of Syracuse, he had resided in Marcellus most of his life before moving to live in Fulton. Hermann retired from Concepts in Wood in Syracuse and had previously worked at L.C.P. Chemical in Solvay. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing and watching Syracuse University Basketball games.

Hermann was predeceased by a daughter, Bonnie Egan and a brother, Dexter Berwald. Surviving are his companion of 29 years, Barbara Miller of Fulton; his children, Jeff Berwald of Marcellus, Dennis (Carolyn) Berwald of Camillus and Missi (Jamie) Baister of Pierson, FL; his wife, Margo Berwald of Camillus; a brother, Norman (Donna) Berwald of Marcellus; nine grandchildren; two nephews, two grandnieces and two grandnephews.

There will be no calling hours or services. Foster Funeral Home, Fulton has care of arrangements.

Trinity Jean McDonald Mills, 33, of Fulton, died Friday. She was a life resident of Fulton. Trinity graduated from G. Ray Bodley High School in 1997 and Bryant & Stratton College with a paralegal degree. She was currently employed at Wal Mart in Oswego. Trinity enjoyed reading, drawing and calligraphy. She is survived by her children, Alexas J. Wise and Michael A. Crego of Fulton; father and mother, Al and Beverly Mills of Fulton; sister, Karen (Jason) Richards of Fulton; brother, Allen Mills of Fulton; several aunts, uncles, cousins, two nieces and one nephew. Manly “Eric” Phelps, 75, of Oswego, passed away Wednesday morning at home. He was born in Phoenix, one of 13 children to the late William and Myrtle Phelps. Eric was a life resident of Oswego. He was formerly employed at Sealright and Birdseye before retiring as a truck driver from MTS in Oswego. Eric was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was predeceased by a son, Thomas Phelps, who died April 7, 2009. Eric is survived by his wife of 57 years, Shirley Shoults Phelps; two daughters, Rhonda (Gary Muckey, Jr.) Phelps and Melissa (Kenneth, Jr.) Myers; two sons, Eric (Kathy) Phelps and Benjamin Phelps; a brother, John Phelps; a sister, Phyllis Stone. Mildred “Jeanie” Brewer, 79, of Fulton, lost her fight with life Tuesday at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse. A native of Fulton, she retired from SYROCO in Baldwinsville after several years. Jeanie loved her family and beloved dogs dearly. She was member of the Fulton Gaucho’s and enjoyed bingo, bowling, gambling and traveling. She will be lovingly missed by her husband of 61 years, Clayton W. Brewer, Sr.; children, Bonnie (Bob) MacIntyre, Jean (Mike) Bessette, Clayton (Patti Arnold) Brewer Jr., Becky (John Nauss) Beeman; siblings, Alice (Kevin) Lie and Benny (Diane) Swiader; 12 grandchildren, Mike, Melissa, Heather, Mark, Michaelene, Joseph, Clayton III, Danielle, Richard, Tommy, Jennifer and Ryan; great-grandchildren, Rachel, Caleb, Kaylee, Addison, Alexa, Macean, Kevin, Dante, Ian, Asher, Ethan, Lane and Logan; four- legged beloved babies, Gordie and Simon. Aaron F. Truax, 93, of Volney, passed away Sunday at Pontiac Care and Rehabilitation Center. Aaron was a life resident of the Volney area. He worked at Carmen Supply and later retired in 1980 from Nestle Co., Fulton after more than 25 years. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Fulton. He was an Army Veteran and past commander of the Fulton American Legion. Aaron loved flower and vegetable gardening, enjoyed writing poetry and drawing. Aaron is survived by his wife of 70 years, the former Emma A. Pomeroy; children, Linda (Robert) Gainer and Wayne (Terry) Truax; three grandchildren, Wayne Jr., David and Julie; six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Shirley Chillson Cianfarano, 86, of Hannibal, passed away Saturday at Springside at Seneca Hill. Shirley was a life resident of Hannibal and had retired from Hannibal Central Schools after more than 30 years. Shirley was an active member of the Hannibal United Methodist Church. She was a founding member of the Hannibal Fireman’s Auxiliary. Shirley was also a member of the Lake Country Quilt Guild, RSVP, Elderberries, Historical Society and had instructed Arthritic Swim at the Fulton YMCA. In 2010, Shirley was the recipient of the Zonta Women of Achievement Award. She was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Samuel A. Cianfarano, Sr., who passed away in 1998. Shirley is survived by her children, Samuel A. Jr. (Linda) of Arizona, Steven A. (Janis) of Hannibal and Stanley A. (Patsy Murray) of Queensbury; a brother, William R. (Elaine) Chillson of Hannibal; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
