Joseph A. Galletta Sr., 86, of Fulton passed away peacefully at his home amidst his loving family on Saturday, September 24th. A loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Joseph was born in Oswego, NY, to Anthony and Frances Galletta, as one of six brothers and sisters: John, Angelo, Mario, Mary (Lapetino) and Frances (Archambo). He engaged in farming during high school years and was a machinist at the Marathon Machine Shop. Joseph joined the US Army, Company B, 21st Infantry to become a paratrooper in the South Pacific Theater during WWII. Joseph was the proprietor of West Side Hardware for 50 years, which eventually became a landmark business in the City of Fulton. Another life achievement, Joseph attained his private pilot license with thousands of flight hours. He also loved gardening and being surrounded by the fun fellowship of his ever growing family. Joseph is survived by his wife of 63 years, Catherine Valelunga Galletta; children, Ann (John) Schaefer, Kathleen (Terry) Kinney, Nancy (James) Falanga, and Joseph Jr. (Shona) Galletta, his brother, Mario, 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and many community friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Trinity Church, corner of S. Third and Buffalo Sts., Fulton. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fulton. Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay St., Fulton. Lena M. Gray, 90, of Oswego, passed away Saturday at St. Luke Health Services. A native of Fulton, Mrs. Gray had resided in Sterling for over 50 years before moving to Oswego in 1993. She had worked as a machine operator at Comstock Foods in Red Creek and Birdseye Division of General Foods in Fulton. Mrs. Gray was a member of Sterling Valley Community Church in Sterling. She was also a member of the Fair Haven and Southwest Oswego Senior Citizens Clubs. She loved to crochet, bowl and go on trips with the senior citizens club. Mrs. Gray was predeceased by her husband, Edwin C. Gray, who died in 1984; a daughter, Patricia Gray and by four brothers, Robert, Donald Arthur and Norman Myhill. Surviving: two daughters, Beverley (Frank) A. Perkins of Sterling and Betty M. Gray of Oswego; five grandsons, John (Chris) Gray and Ronald (Lois) Gray all of Oswego, Charles (Joanne) Perkins, Dr. Franklin (Kelley) Perkins and James (Niki) Perkins all of Fulton; nine great-granddaughters; two step-great-granddaughters; several nieces and nephews. Services will be private. Burial will be at Springbrook Cemetery, Sterling. There will be no calling hours. Contributions may be made to American Heart Association, P.O.
